My Passion Project
Big Idea
How can educators promote individuality and diversity within socially acceptable boundaries?
My Guiding Questions
Who determines what behaviours are socially acceptable?
Who creates social boundaries?
How can teachers find a balance between promoting/teaching "socially acceptable behaviours" while not suppressing individuality and unique behaviours?
How can teachers value and promote individuality within a behaviour system?
How do teachers create a culture of inclusivity and individuality but with shared values?
Introduction
The focus of my research is geared towards teachers but I hope this also appeals to other professionals and the parents/guardians of my students as well. Together, we can ensure our students and children are free to express their individuality while still gently teaching them about different ways of behaving that are appropriate in different settings. As a person who learns best through a variety of mediums, I set out to include multiple methods of displaying my research and sharing information such as an info graphic, videos, and an audio recording. I also wanted to share my journey so I also included my outline and summary statements. I hope this page allows you to explore social norms and how we, as educators, can help students express their individuality and to value diversity within these boundaries.

Audio Recording
I created a short audio recording voicing some of my own opinions and responses to the research I found. I posed many questions that I would love for you to reflect on! Click on the link to the right to listen and comment below with your thoughts!
